Allan Gardens in The Bridge News

Something powerful is growing at Allan Gardens, where a volunteer-led program, Seeds of Hope, is growing fresh produce for local Toronto food banks and turning public green space into a source of nourishment and hope for the community.

“There’s a real sense of dis­covery when people learn that food is being grown here for the community,” says Matt Canaran, executive director of Friends of Allan Gardens. “It shifts the perception of the gar­dens from something you visit to something that actively gives back.”
