Earlier this summer, the National accessArts Centre presented by TD (NaAC) officially broke ground on its $30 million Accessible Arts Learning Campus in Calgary, marking the development of the world’s first accessible arts learning campus.
The Joseph Chung Centre for Creativity, designed by DIALOG, is purpose-built to house NaAC’s dance, music and digital media programs. The mass-timber structure will be anchored around a two-storey curvilinear rehearsal studio, wrapped in a woven wood envelope to support the building’s climate load. Inside, thoughtful elements from acoustics, natural lighting, and calming sensory spaces create an environment where community members can feel comfortable, included, and inspired to create.
Alongside it, the former Scouts building will be reimagined as the Trico Communities Accessible Arts Centre, designed by Iwanski Architecture. Together, the campus is shaped for sustainability, inclusivity, and accessibility from the ground up.
