Something powerful is growing at Allan Gardens, where a volunteer-led program, Seeds of Hope, is growing fresh produce for local Toronto food banks and turning public green space into a source of nourishment and hope for the community.
“There’s a real sense of discovery when people learn that food is being grown here for the community,” says Matt Canaran, executive director of Friends of Allan Gardens. “It shifts the perception of the gardens from something you visit to something that actively gives back.”
