The Rekai Centre at Cherry Place, designed by Montgomery Sisam Architects, is redefining long-term care in Toronto – integrating crucial lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic into resident safety and infection control.
“Some resident home areas at Cherry Place are being built for 14 or 18 beds for a more home-like feel,” said Dustin Hooper, Principal at Montgomery Sisam.
With smaller household models, enhanced infection-control measures, increased privacy, and outdoor greenspace, the facility is designed to better prevent the spread of disease while demonstrating how thoughtful, informed architecture can strengthen health, resilience, and quality of life for Toronto’s aging communities.
