As the Gordie Howe International Bridge officially opened to traffic yesterday, Arcadis’ Usha Elyatamby, Global Director, Digital Transportation, joined CKLW-AM – The Kyle Horner Show to discuss the intelligent digital infrastructure powering one of North America’s most significant transportation projects.
From roadside sensors to the back-office revenue platform, Arcadis designed and built the bridge’s integrated toll system – a smart solution that keeps traffic flowing safely with real-time monitoring, automated tolling, and dynamic lane control.
“Both from the Canadian and the U.S. side, they can basically sign up for the Breakaway program, access it, get all the information in real time in terms of the bridge and the bridge crossing. So, it’s a very integrated platform to help the customer be able to cross in a meaningful manner,” said Elyatamby.
