World-Architects.com featured the Durham Modular Transitional Housing project as its World Building of the Week!
Montgomery Sisam Architects designed the project with its geographical context in mind. The design includes a sloped roof, dark cladding, and light wood accents that are reminiscent of local barns, birch trees and grasslands, and reflective of rural Ontario’s vernacular architecture, where the project is located.
Blending visually with the local built environment, the project reduces the stigma associated with affordable housing while challenges preconceived notions of what these spaces look like.
