WZMH Architects has a global practice that is responsible for the design of some of Canada’s most significant buildings, and is actively redesigning the architectural industry to make it more sustainable thanks to IoT, machine learning, low-voltage systems and other technologies.
As the war in Ukraine rages on, the cities across the country see massive destruction. After seeing the scenes of widespread devastation in Ukrainian cities under bombardment, WZMH, its research and development lab ‘sparkbird’, and the team of Ukrainian architects, who are part of the WZMH team, developed a proprietary modular precast solution that addresses the housing crisis in Ukraine. Named Speedstac, the solution was created for mid- to high-rise residential buildings and aims to ‘repair’ them in an economical and sustainable way — and on a compressed timeline. Made of “boxes” that are stacked together, side by side, on top of each other, the prefabricated modular units slide into the existing building and replace damaged sections with new residential units. The technology has been endorsed by the Embassy of Ukraine in Canada and a number of local governments across Ukraine.
Idea Workshop has implemented an extensive international media relations campaign to generate awareness of WZMH’s innovative prefabricated modular precast solution Speedstac that has a potential to reimagine the future of the war-torn cities in Ukraine. We have targeted national and international design and architecture, sustainability, business and mainstream media to help tell this unique story.
We have secured an exclusive with Fast Company, followed by multiple online and print stories in key mainstream and business media, targeted design and architecture outlets and trade media, including ArchDaily, e-architect, Canadian Architect, Architizer, as well as feature stories in Ukrainian publications 24tv.ua and Znaj.ua. These efforts have also supported the firm’s business development pipeline.
