DIALOG in NOW Toronto

As Canadian cities face the growing impacts of climate change, the City of Toronto in partnership with DIALOG have developed the Thermal Comfort Guidelines – North America’s first comprehensive framework of its kind. Adopted last year, the guidelines offer practical design strategies to keep public spaces safe and comfortable during extreme weather.

“…one simple solution is planting deciduous trees.

‘The ones that lose their leaves in the fall are nature’s perfect comfort designers because they give you shade in the summer when you need it the most and let the sunlight through in the winter,’” Dorsa Jalalian, associate and urban planner, told NOW Toronto.
